Planning & Zoning Commission

Meetings

The Planning & Zoning Commission includes seven members, each having a five-year term. This commission regulates land use and development by reviewing new construction plans and plats and working with City staff to adopt and enforce zoning regulations. The commission meets on the second and last Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at Johnston City Hall.

The primary duties of the Commission include:

  • Review applications and make decisions on new commercial and residential developments such as subdivisions, retail, and office complexes that fit within the adopted comprehensive plan
  • Review and provide comments on street and park improvements
  • Develop the City’s long-term comprehensive plan for development
