On April 17, 2023, the Johnston City Council approved a site plan for a new Kwik Star location at 5608 Merle Hay Road (NW corner of Merle Hay Road and Pioneer Parkway).
The site plans depict the demolition of the former Johnston Community School District admin building to allow for the construction of a Kwik Star Convenience Store with 20 fueling stations and a detached car wash.
