The new restroom/concessions building (just north of the new parking lot) construction has begun and is on track to be completed by November 2022.
Two baseball fields have had new fence lines and dugouts installed. The Parks Department is looking at completing either one or two fields a year for the next few years.
On the softball side, a new parking lot and detention pond are now complete. Seeding still needs to occur.
Project Overview The improvements will include additional parking for the softball fields complex, stormwater retention for new impervious areas and future installation of a public restroom and concessions building. This is a three-phase project that will be completed in 2023.
Phase 1 focuses on getting the infrastructure put into place for future construction. This includes all utility work and the construction of a new parking lot and associated sidewalks. It will also include a disc golf course. The course is currently laid out. The tee boxes and baskets will be installed for the first nine holes in spring 2022. The second nine will be installed in fall of 2022.
Phase 2 focuses on the restroom/concession improvements. It will also improve the dugouts and create a large shade structure for inspectors.
Phase 3 includes irrigation, playground and other amenities.
This plan was brought to the City of Johnston from the Johnston Youth Softball and it was refined with Snyder & Associates.
