NW 62nd Avenue & Merle Hay Road Project

Project Description
This project involves the complete reconstruction of NW 62nd Avenue from NW 59th Court east through NW 54th Court. This project is part of the city’s efforts to improve roadway safety, improve the deteriorating roadway surface and to improve overall drainage in the immediate vicinity of the project. The project will be built in three main construction stages with stage 1 beginning spring/early summer.

The project will consist of PCC Pavement, sidewalk and shared-use path, water-main improvements, storm sewer, sub-drains, sanitary sewer, sanitary manholes, storm sewer manholes and intakes, pavement markings, and surface restoration.

Project Update (10/17/2020)
The contractor installed storm sewer on Merle Hay Road going north and connected to the existing 36” storm going south. They also installed a 30” storm sewer on NW 62nd east of Merle Hay Road.

The contractor poured the sidewalks and trail on NW 62nd Avenue between Merle Hay Road and NW 59th and Merle Hay Road south to the barbershop drive and north to the Walgreens drive.

The contractor removed concrete north on MHR at the former drive to City Hall and started grading for pavement. The driveways to Walgreens and Schultz are now open onto NW 62nd.

The week of Oct. 19, the contractor will continue with storm sewer on Merle Hay Road and NW 62nd Avenue and will continue grading and subgrade prep on Merle Hay Road north of NW 62nd Avenue.
