NW 62nd Avenue Road Construction from NW 86th St.-Meadow Crest Dr.-Roundabouts

Project Details
The bid opening is scheduled for August 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. A public hearing on the bids and project is scheduled for September 6, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Johnston City Hall, 6221 Merle Hay Road. At the hearing, any interested person may appear and comment on the project. It is the intent of the city to award the construction contract on September 6, 2011 to the lowest responsible, responsive bidder. Construction of the new companion bridge will start this year and progress through the winter. The bridge is scheduled for completion June 2012. Roadway construction will begin with permanent widening on the west end and temporary pavement throughout the project to prepare for the bulk of the construction which will take place in 2012. When the construction commences next spring the plan is for the south half the roadway to be constructed first with the north half to follow. The road will remain open to traffic with very short closures at night or over weekends. The major construction activities will be completed by late summer to early fall 2012. Clean up work will continue until winter with some surface restoration (seeding/sodding) occurring in the spring of 2013. Please visit this link to see presentation slides on modern roundabouts.
