The City of Johnston is holding a free, family friendly bicycle round-up on Saturday, May 12 with registration starting at 12:30 PM. The location is the parking lot on the Pioneer Hi-Bred campus at the corner of Pioneer Parkway and South Drive. There will be a bicycle rodeo for children to learn safe riding techniques on an obstacle course, a bike helmet check, bike maintenance check, safety information, and an opportunity to register bikes with the Johnston Police Department. At 2:30 PM a family trail ride begins with a three mile or a four mile route on bike trails that ends at Van Dee’s for an ice cream treat. This event is sponsored by Johnston Parks & Recreation, Johnston Police, Johnston Public Library, Johnston Community Education, Johnston Partnership for a Healthy Community, Pioneer Hi-Bred, Kyle’s Bikes and Van Dee’s Ice Cream.
