NW 84th Circle

Map of Project Location

In 2014, this project utilized a rock step-pool system to dissipate the high storm water rates and velocities that were being experienced in the project area.  The step pools allow water to be outlet at or near the flow line of the main channel that the water is to be released into.  Bank stabilization was provided through a variety of slope protection methods.  A combination of seeding, sod, and native grasses were utilized in the project.

This project was funded by the Johnston Stormwater Utility, which was implemented in July 2012 to create a dedicated funding source for projects that reduce erosion, protect properties and infrastructure from flooding and to improve water quality within the City of Johnston, for more information on the stormwater utility, visit the stormwater projects page.

Estimated Cost:  $63,000
