July 22, 2014 - JOHNSTON POLICE INVESTIGATION #14-000803

The Johnston Police Department is attempting to identify the person and vehicle pictured in connection with a criminal investigation involving a theft that occurred on June 23rd at a Johnston Hy-Vee convenience store.  According to the report, on Monday, June 23rd at approximately 12:10 pm the pictured male is alleged to have filled the vehicle up with $52.00 worth of fuel at the Hy-Vee Gas & convenience store at 5902 Merle Hay Road and then drove away without making payment.  Witnesses described the vehicle as a tan colored Ford Explorer driven by a “heavy set” Hispanic male.  At the time, the vehicle was displaying Dealer license plates that had been reported stolen back in May 2013 from the Auto Plus car dealership at 3520 2nd Avenue in Des Moines.  The Johnston Police Department is attempting to identify this subject so that he can be questioned regarding any possible knowledge or involvement he may have in the described activity.
