Some of my trash won't fit in the garbage container (either because I have too much, or it's too large). What should I do?
Items that do not fit in a garbage container require a sticker to be affixed to them. Large volumes of garbage, such as instances where there is more garbage or waste than will fit in the standard collection cart, require a $1.00 sticker to be affixed to each bag, box or bundle outside the container. Extra waste with a sticker will be collected curb side on regular pick up times. Bulky waste is defined as appliances and other items, which do not contain refrigerant gasses or mercury and other items that do not fit into the collection cart. Typical bulky waste includes tables and chairs, couches, loveseats, mattresses, box springs, carpet (four feet in length and bundled; less than 45 pounds), lawn furniture, and gas grills (without propane tank). Bulky waste requires a $5.00 sticker and can be left at curb side the same day as regular trash collection. Stickers for extra garbage, bulky waste and appliances are available at Johnston Hy-Vee & Dahl’s, City Hall and Artistic Waste (1817 W. Euclid).
