Billing and Shut Off
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BILLING AND
SHUT OFF INFORMATION
Johnston's water bills are billed monthly, and if there is a balance
on the current bill, the balance amount must be paid before the 15th
or the following penalties will occur:
- If your bill is not paid by the 25th of the month you received
the bill, you will be sent a reminder in regular mail notifying
you that you have until the 10th of the next month to pay your bill
or water service will be disconnected.
If your bill is not paid by the 5th of the next month, you will be
charged a $5.00 delayed payment fee and you will receive a priority
mail delivery confirmation letter notifying you that you have until
the 10th to pay your bill or water service will be disconnected. If
your bill is not paid by the day before the Shut Off Day, you will
be charged a $15.00 delayed payment fee and the red tag will be put
on your door the day before disconnection happens.
If your water should be turned off for nonpayment, there will be another
$15.00 fee the morning of shut off and this will all need to be paid
before your water will be reconnected. Reconnection is done only between
the hours of 8:00am and 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. After these
hours the reconnection fee is $50.00. Your unpaid balance and the
reconnection fee will need to be paid before the service will be restored.
- If you plan to go on an extended vacation, customers will need
to make arrangements with the City to pay in advance the minimum
water bill and sewer service availability fee. Please call 727-7772
or stop by the Johnston Water Department for further information.
Please bring with you a current meter reading.
- Written and verbal notification will need to be made when you
want to discontinue water service. You will need to schedule an
appointment with the Johnston Water Department to read the water
meter for the final billing. This reading is taken from the inside
water meter only, not the outside remote. An appointment will need
to be made so please call the Water Department at 727-7772, and
schedule in advance of moving.
- If you should have any questions concerning your water/sewer bill
or other water/sewer related problems, feel free to call the JOHNSTON
WATER DEPARTMENT AT 727-7772, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY BETWEEN 8:00am
AND 5:00pm. WE NOW HAVE VOICE MAIL FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE. YOU MAY
CALL 727-7772 ANY TIME, DAY OR NIGHT, AND LEAVE YOUR MESSAGE.
You may apply for Direct Withdrawal by filling out
an application form to authorize the Johnston Water Department to
do the transaction. Please attach a canceled check or voided deposit
slip with the form. You will still receive a Johnston Water bill,
which will be your clue to please read your water meter and call that
reading into the Johnston Water Department. If you call after 5:00
p.m. choose option 3. That will put you into our voicemail. This will
instruct you to leave your name, address, account number, phone number
and the meter reading or readings. Please speak clearly and repeat
the numbers. We will get the message the next day and put the information
into the computer. We have applications at the City Hall; you may
stop in or call to have an application mailed to you.
If you plan to go on Winter Vacation or be gone for an extended period,
please notify the Johnston Water Department to make arrangements for
your billing.
As stated before you will still be getting a water
bill in the mail, so if you should notice any problems with the bill,
we would appreciate a call before the 8th of the month so this problem
can be corrected before the transaction goes to the bank.
If you should have any questions concerning Direct Withdrawal, please
call Marci at 727-7772.
