Right of Way Information

On January 20, 2004 the Johnston City Council approved a new ordinance pertaining to the City's right of way.  A permit is now required anytime work is being performed in the right of way within the City of Johnston.

You will be required to have the following items before a permit is granted and work can start.

  • A completed right of way permit (click here to obtain a copy of permit)
  • Payment of $50.00 permit fee.
  • Liability Insurance Certificate.
  • An annual bond payable to the City of Johnston in the amount of $10,000.

If you will be blocking any lanes of traffic, you will need a street/lane closure permit also.
