The Johnston Public Works Department provides maintenance and service for streets, water and sewer lines, and City property. Public Works maintains, repairs, and plows 78 miles of streets. In addition, Public Works maintains and repairs approximately 102 miles of water mains, 63.69 miles of sanitary sewer lines, 1,167 hydrants, 2,250 water valves, 1,536 manholes, and two storage tanks that hold an estimated three million gallons of water.
