Water Billing Information
Johnston's water/sewer/garbage/recycle bills are billed monthly and your payment by the 15th of the month is appreciated. When a bill is not paid on time, the following penalties will occur:

If the bill remains unpaid, a disconnect notice is sent by first class mail. No additional fee is charged at this time. |
| About the 1st of the second month |
Termination notice is hand delivered to the customer and a $15.00 fee is applied to the account. |
| About the 3rd of the second month |
A disconnect notice is hand delivered to the customer and a $15.00 fee is applied to the account. |
| Restoration of services |
A $15.00 restoration charge is applied to the account.
Restoration of service is scheduled during normal working hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Under special circumstance, the public works director may authorize the restoration of service after hours, 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. If approved and scheduled, an additional fee of $50.00 will be charged.
All payments must be made in full at Johnston City Hall, including the $50.00 after-hour fee by 9:00 a.m. the following day or service will be disconnected immediately and not restored until all payments due have been received.

Planning a long trip or extended vacation?
If you plan to go on an extended vacation, please remember to make arrangements with the city to pay the minimum water bill and sewer service availability fee in advance. This will keep your account current during your absence.
If you prefer to shut off your water service in your absence, contact the Johnston Water Department. A one-time fee of $15.00 will be charged for turning the water service off/on at the street.
Moving Out?
Contact the Johnston Water Department before you move to schedule an appointment to read the water meter. A final reading of your water meter will be recorded for your final bill.
Moving In?
Visit Johnston City Hall to initiate water service in your name.
