Remodeling will begin at Crown Point Community Center on July 1, 2010, and continue for 4-6 months. Public use will not be available during this time.
Crown Point Community Center is available for public rental for business meetings, weddings, and other types of parties and functions. The facilities include a full kitchen, two conference rooms, and a wrap-around deck. Outside there are two tennis courts and access to trails. Crown Point Community Center is located at 6300 Pioneer Parkway and is also the site of the Johnston Senior Dining Center. The Johnston Senior Dining Center is located at Crown Point Community Center, 6300 Pioneer Parkway in Johnston. Meals are served to senior citizens Monday through Friday at noon. Donations are accepted. Additional recreational and informational activities are also featured. Call 251-3707 to make meal reservations. The center is hosted by the Polk County Congregate Meals Program, sponsored by Polk County Senior Services. The Closet at Crown PointThe Closet at Crown Point, a joint venture of The Johnston Partnership for a Healthy Community, Inc. and the Johnston Rotary, provides a place for lower income individuals and families within the Johnston community to obtain much needed clothing, shoes, and sundries items (i.e. laundry detergent, paper products, toiletries). A fee of $2.00 for each family’s visit to pick up items is used to purchase needed sundries. A family can volunteer hours at The Closet in lieu of the fee. |
