About Johnston FireThe Johnston Fire Department serves the City of Johnston as well as areas of unincorporated Polk County. Our response area covers approximately fifteen (15) square miles, with a population estimated at more than13,000 people. The City has experienced significant growth over the past three years, a trend that still continues today. The Fire Department provides protection from one (1) Fire Station at 6015 NW 62nd. Ave., in Johnston, with a full-time Chief, four full-time firefighters, and a Paid-on-Call staff of thirty two.
As our Community continues to grow, the call volume for the Fire Department continues to grow as well. Support from our Community is vital to the continued success of our organization. Individuals interested in assisting the City of Johnston with Emergency Medical Services, Fire Suppression or a combination of the two is welcome. Any person, over the age of eighteen (18), that would like to become a Paid-on-Call Firefighter / EMT for the Johnston Fire Department is encouraged to apply.
