Rental Process Contact Brenda Smith at the Johnston Parks Department at 515-727-8091 for availability. Availabilities may also be displayed below.

The reservation is not considered complete until the signed rental agreement, rental fee, and security/cleaning deposit are received at the Parks office.

The deposit amount, which is half the total rental fee, is due at the time of reservation, with the remaining balance due no later than 30 days from rental date.

If the reservation is made less than 30 days from the reservation date, total payment is due within seven (7) days from the date of the reservation.

Buildings are reserved on a first come, first served basis up to 12 months in advance with priority given to senior citizen programs, youth activities, and city events.

Reservations should include time for set-up before the event and clean up after the event.

A Rental Agreement will be mailed or emailed to you. A Special Event Application may be required.
Cancellation If a reservation is cancelled at least 30 days prior to the requested date, the deposit will be refunded.  Of the rental fee, less 50% will be refunded.

If a reservation is cancelled with less than 30 days notice, no refund will be given of the rental fee or security/deposit fee.

Cancellations or changes in rental dates or times may be made in person, in writing, via email, or by telephone with the Parks Department.
Use Guidelines Access to the facility is during the hours listed on the Rental Agreement.  Building Supervisors are scheduled to unlock/lock the building for events scheduled.

Decorations at Crown Point should be mounted with removable tape only. No tacks, nails, or duct tape is allowed.

Renters are asked to return the room(s) and the building to the specifications of the building supervisor by following the building checklist.

Clean up involves wiping down the tables, vacuuming, sweeping/mopping the floor, bagging trash and taking outside to the dumpster, and replacing with new trash bags.

Contact the building supervisor for assistance with heating/cooling, restroom issues or any other concerns.
Deposit The refundable security/cleaning deposit is one-half the total rental fee and will be refunded approximately two weeks after the event, less any charges retained for repairing minor damage.

The renter will be notified within five days after the event if there is a problem that would result in the full deposit being retained.
Alcohol Groups may serve beer, wine and champagne at their event until 11 p.m. A Johnston police officer must be present at any time alcohol is served and staff will be scheduled for the event. Hard liquor is not allowed, which means no cash bar is allowed in any of the buildings. The charge for the officer is $35 per hour, with a three hour minimum.

As a reminder, if you are getting married on the grounds alcohol cannot be served until the officer is present.
Heat/Cooling The lower level of the barn is heated/cooled, however the large upper level is not air conditioned. Two large floor fans are available for cooling purposes. Radiant Heat is installed in the upper level of the Barn to heat the room.

Fundraising Event For non-profit groups only. With prior written approval from the Park Advisory Board required.
