JOHNSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT WELCOMES OFFICER WEDEMEYER

The Johnston Police Department welcomed Officer Will Wedemeyer on Monday, March 18, 2019, as he was sworn-in by Mayor Paula Dierenfeld during the City Council meeting.

Will Wedemeyer has been an Iowa certified police officer since 2012. He was previously employed with the Adair County Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy since 2014. Officer Wedemeyer has considerable criminal interdiction experience and is a certified ALICE instructor. He looks forward to advancing his law enforcement career with a larger department focused on community policing. He is also seeking opportunities in specialized areas and looks forward to future leadership opportunities within the department. Will has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Interdisciplinary Studies from Iowa State University.

“I am excited to have Officer Wedemeyer as a member of our growing department,” said Police Chief Dennis McDaniel. “His previous experience and drive for success fit well with our vision. Officer Wedemeyer’s dedication to serving his community while ensuring community policing is an integral part of it makes him a great member of our department. I look forward to seeing him engage with our community and the collaborative efforts he will bring to our force.”
