USE OF CONSUMER FIREWORKS PROHIBITED IN JOHNSTON

In light of the recent action by the Iowa Legislature related to fireworks, the City of Johnston reminds you that per Chapter 41.12(2) of the Johnston City Code, the use of fireworks are prohibited within the city limits.  Display fireworks may be used by a group or organization after obtaining a permit from the City demonstrating that the discharge of fireworks are going to be conducted by a competent handler.  The group, organization, or handler must provide evidence of insurance in amounts determined by the City.

The City will be amending the city ordinance to update and clarify where consumer fireworks may be sold within city limits.
