Animal Control
Outside pictures of the new kennel facility at Public Works
Effective April 1, 2007 the City of Johnston will be holding stray animals at the Public Works facility for a period of 3 days in order to locate owners of the animal before transporting to Animal Rescue League. Animal Rescue will hold the animal for an additional 7 days before arranging to place the animal for adoption. Injured or aggressive animals will be taken directly to the Animal Rescue League. Due to the cost incurred by the City, anyone claiming an animal at the Public Works facility will be charged $50.00.
To ensure that your pet is returned to you should it get lost, we recommend that your animal have current identification tags or be microchipped. The Animal Rescue League holds various microchip clinics throughout the year.
For anyone interested in having a pet microchipped, please contact the Animal Rescue League at 262-9503.
