Regional Project Information
Please note that traffic patterns have changed near the Kempton Bridge reconstruction project, specifically at the intersection of NW 66th Avenue and NW Beaver Drive on Johnston's northeast side. This is causing delays in the area. This is a project of Polk County, not the City of Johnston. The traffic patterns are expected to be in place through most of the summer. You may email email@example.com if you would like to receive construction updates from Polk County on this project.Phase I - The bridge over the Des Moines River and 1,000 feet in either direction is currently under construction. A temporary trail under the bridge is open during the construction of the bridge.
Phase II - The reconstruction of NW 66th Avenue from the river bridge to the intersection of NW 66th Avenue and NW Beaver Drive will occur from spring 2016 through fall 2017. Traffic will be open during construction although the west leg of the intersection of NW 66 Avenue and NW Beaver Drive may be closed when it is being reconstructed. This phase of the project includes the construction of a recreation trail from the intersection of NW Beaver Drive and NW 66th Avenue to the Neal Smith Trail at the Sycamore Access.
Phase III - The reconstruction of NW 66th Avenue from east of the bridge to NW 26th Street will occur from spring 2018 through fall 2019. The roadway will be open to traffic during construction.
