Scott Syroka was elected to the Johnston City Council in 2019. He’s a “Sandbox Kid” – growing up in Johnston and attending Johnston Schools K-12. After graduating from Johnston High School, Scott obtained a degree in Government from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

He began his private sector career with Google, working on high-profile efforts like the annual Year in Search film, Google Doodles, and the Grow with Google initiative to increase economic opportunity in the United States.

Scott left Google to serve as Senator Rita Hart’s Lieutenant Governor Staffer, traveling over 25,000 miles around the state with Senator Hart – mostly rural Iowa – to listen to the stories and concerns of Iowans.

Today, Scott is the founder of Next Door Saints LLC – a small digital advertising agency that helps other small businesses market to new audiences online.
